Broward County Selects Management Team with Decades of Experience in the Ft. Lauderdale Community

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Broward County Commission has approved the Selection Committee’s recommended top ranking for Keolis Transit America (Keolis) and approved the contract to continue to manage and operate Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport shuttle services for the county.

The five-year, $49.3 million base-term contract is expected to take effect in 30 days. The agreement contains one-2 year and one-1 year extension options, for a total of eight years.

The contract includes operating the 46-vehicle fleet (seven trams, 35 transit buses and four COBUS planeside passenger conveyance vehicles) and managing 96 drivers and 39 other employees. Recently, this service has been averaging a weekday ridership of nearly 120,000 passengers, with 35,500 on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Keolis will be responsible for staffing, customer service, maintenance and general operations for the system, with Barbara Moleski leading the operations.

Keolis, and its predecessor companies, have managed this operation for Broward County for a total of 22 years, although not consecutively. In 2008, Keolis reduced the cost per passenger by 50% after another transportation management company operated it from 2003 to 2008.

“We are very thrilled to further the relationship we’ve built with Broward County and the wonderful people that live in and visit our beautiful community,” commented Moleski. “We, along with our partners at the county, will continue to serve our passengers and put them above all else.”
