Plumb Has 41 Years of Rail Industry Experience; Will Coordinate Daily Fleet Maintenance for Keolis MBTA Commuter Rail Operations
BOSTON, MA – May 7, 2014 – Keolis Commuter Services has named David Plumb chief mechanical officer for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) commuter rail contract that begins July 1, 2014.
In this role, Plumb will organize, direct, control and coordinate the daily fleet maintenance operations including train performance, safety, customer service, preventive maintenance activities, FRA compliance, warehousing activities, facility maintenance, oversight and repair, and host railroad relations. Keolis Commuter Services is a part of Keolis North America.
Plumb has 41 years of experience in the rail industry. He’s held several positions with Metro North Railroad, including superintendent of the Hudson Line, facility director of the Hudson Line, superintendent of projects, and superintendent of car appearance. Previously, he was a safety inspector with the Federal Railroad Administration and chief mechanical officer of Providence & Worcester Railroad.
He spent the first 27 years of his career with the Consolidated Rail Corporation, where he held multiple management and mechanical positions throughout the Northeast region.
Plumb attended Bell & Howell School of Electronics, Ohio State University, Penn State University, and the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
